FIRST AID QUALIFICATIONS

Aroma Training Academy delivers a range of First Aid accredited training throughout the UK from leading industry bodies such as Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance, with excellent pass rates, in a style designed to inspire any employee.

All businesses must ensure by law that they have sufficient number of employees who possess a First Aid qualification in order to fulfil their First Aid needs at all times.

Employers must ensure that their First Aid provision is "adequate and appropriate". It is the employer's responsibility to decide what the requirements of the organisation are by assessing any specific work hazards and ensuring that sufficient equipment, facilities and personnel are available to deal with the consequences of these hazards.

As part of each assessment, the HSE recommends organisations should look at things such as the nature of work engaged in and the subsequent hazards and risks, the size of the organisation, work patterns and accident histories amongst other things.

FIRST-AID QUALIFICATIONS

LEVEL 2

AWARD IN EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (EFAW) – This qualification is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become an Emergency First Aid in the workplace for the purpose of the Health & safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

This particular award is suited to working environments that have minimum hazards along with a low number of employees. This award typically involves a 1-day course.

 AWARD IN ACTIVITY FIRST AID - This accredited qualification

  • Award in Activity First Aid (HABC) (Coming Soon) 

 AED DEFIBRILLATION - This qualification provides learners with skills to further their First Aid training. It is recommended as training for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator.

 

LEVEL 3

FIRST AID AT WORK

This QCF qualification is ideal for those for those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This includes all the features of EFAW and also equips candidates with the First Aid knowledge to tend a range of specific injuries and illnesses. This particular award is most suited to working environments that have a high hazard count and/or high numbers of employees. This award involves a 3-day course.

AWARD IN PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID - These accredited qualifications provides theoretical and practical training in First Aid techniques that are specific to infants aged under 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. Learners will become familiar with the role of the Paediatric First Aider and be able to assess and react appropriately to an emergency situation, including being able to provide First Aid for a child or an infant.

Anaphylaxis & Administration of the Auto Injector (EpiPen & AnaPen)

Anaphylactic shock is a severe allergic reaction causing the body to produce large quantities of histamine.

Sufferers of severe allergic reactions are often prescribed medication to relieve the condition. Medication is usually an Epipen, an auto-injectors containing adrenaline, for self-injection on this 3 hour course. It will enable delegates to acquire knowledge and the necessary skill to manage someone until the emergency services arrive, and is suitable for anyone who works or has responsibility for a person who suffers from anaphylactic shock.

The course can be delivered as a tag on course to any of the main First Aid courses or as an independant course to suit you. It is delivered through a combination of theory and practical scenarios.

This 3 hour course deals with prevention, recognition and treatment of severe allergic reactions including the use of auto-injectors and adminstration of CPR.

Emergency Aid for Motorcyclists Add on for EFAW or FAW

This first aid course has bee specially developed with motorcyclists in mind. It covers crash helmet removal, CPR, and other necessary first aid skills. It will provide you with the confidence to know what to do at the scene of a motorcycle accident in those early moments before the arrival of the emergencies services.

This course is ideal for motorcyclists, motorcycle instructors and those who may have contact with motorcyclists and wish to know how to handle an incident.

Epilepsy Awareness

Epilepsy has undoubtedly achieved its unenviable position in people's minds, perhaps, largely because of its unpredictable dramatic and sometimes frightening effects.

It will enable delegates to acquire knowledge and the necessary skill to manage someone until the emergency services arrive, and is suitable for anyone who works or has responsibility for a person who suffers from Epilepsy.

The course can be delivered as a tag on course to any of the main First Aid courses or as an independant course to suit you. It is delivered through a combination of theory and practical scenarios.

This 3 hour course deals with recognition and treatment of Epilepsy.

  • Increase knowledge of Epilepsy
  • What happens during a seizure
  • Classification of seizures
  • Causes of seizures and common "Triggers" that precipitate a seizure
  • Explanation of safe practices when caring for someone who has epilepsy
  • Recognise a seizure (epecially a tonic-clonic seizure) and describe the difference between generalised and partial seizures. 
  • Discuss ways of preventing injury or possible fatality
  • Demonstrate ability to observe and record a seizure.

First Aid at Work (Annual Refresher)

MORE CANDIDATES, BIGGER THE DISCOUNT; e.g.12 Candidates @ only £31.50 each

The Health & Safety Executive strongly recommends that First-Aiders under take annual refresher training during any three-year FAW/EFAW certifcate period. Although not mandatory, this will help qualified First-Aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up todate with any changes to First-Aid procedures.

This short three hour refresher First Aid course is designed for those companies who wish to maintain high standards of a First Aider within their workplace.

Employer' s should also encourage First-Aiders to regularly review their course manual and other materials, and where possible, allocate them time to do this. It will further help to maintain their First-Aid skills.

 

This First Aid at Work training course is not just an attend course, candidates are required to take part in practical assessements and some theorectical work.

Healthcare Professional (Doctors and Dentists) First Aid Training

We offer various qualifications and courses which include resuscition, meeting the requirements for healthcare professionals throughout the UK.

UK Resuscition Council Recommendations

The UK Resuscition Council recommends that "staff should undergo regular training in the management of medical emergencies to a level appropriate to their expected clinical resonsibilities".

What the guidelines says:

Medical emergencies can happen at any time in a dental practice. If you employ, manage or lead a team, you should make sure that:

  • There are arrangements for at least two people available to deal with medical emergencies when treatment is planned to take place;
  • All members of staff, not just the registered team members, know their role if a patient collapes or there is another kind of medical emergency;
  • All members of staff who might be involved in dealing with a medical emergency are trained and prepared to deal with such an emergency at any time and practice together regularly in a simulated emergency so they know exactly what to do.

Where an employer's assessment for First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement for an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements.

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (EFAW - Upgrade)

This is an upgrade qualification from the Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid (EFAW) to the Level 3 First Aid at Work (FAW). 

You may have taken your EFAW course, but then realise that you should have taken the FAW course instead, so what do you do?

This course will help you achieve your Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work, which means that you will only need to attend the last 2 days of a FAW (Initial) course.

Eligible Criteria:

  • In order to be eligible to take this upgrade course your Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid (EFAW) certificate assessment date must be no more than 10 weeks on your last attendance day on a FAW Initial course, otherwise you will have to attend the whole three day course.
  • Your level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid (EFAW) course was taken with Aroma Training Academy.
  • You must attend a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Initial) course, and not a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work Re-Qualification course.
