Level 3 Award in First Aid Response

This qualification is ideal for those wishing to gain a more comprehensive understanding of First Aid, along within an understanding of how important medical/environmental intelligence is when dealing with a range of casualties.

The approximate course duration is 4 days, however this may be adjusted in accordance to meeting learner needs. Topics covered include: the roles and responsibilities of First Aiders; assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness, correct use of an AED, medical provision awareness and environmental impacting factors.

Qualification Details: The HABC Level 3 Award in First Aid Response is an award written and endorsed by HABC. This qualification sits outside of the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF), however it may support the completion of such accredited provision.

This accredited qualification provides theorectical and practical training in emergency first aid techniques that are specific to infants aged under 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. Learners undertaking this qualification will be able to provide support to the Paediatrics First Aider to maintain the welfare of infants and children.

Learners will become familiar with the role of the Paediatric First Aider and be able to assess and react appropriately to an emergency situation, such as a child or infant who is unresponsive, has an airway obstruction, has breathing difficulties or is suffering from shock or anaphylaxis.

This qualification consists of one mandatory unit and is typically delivered over a period of 1 day with a minimum contact time of 6 hours.

Level 3 Award in Paediatrics First Aid (QCF)

This accredited qualification provides theoretical and practical training in First Aid techniques that are specific to infants aged under 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. This Award in Paediatrics First Aid training course is not just an attend course, candidates are required to take part in practical assessements to successfully complete the course which will be assessed by the tutor throughout the course.

 

Topics also included are fractures, dislocations, injuries to the head, neck, back, eyes, ears or nose, poisoning, bites or stings, burns or scalds, electric shock, minor injuries and chronic medical conditions.

This qualification consists of two mandatory units and is typically delivered over a period of 2 days with a minimum contact time of 12 hours.

The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage is a document published by the Department for Education and applies to Early Years childcare. The Statutory Framework states that "at least one person who has a current paediatrics first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present. There must be at least one person on outings who has a current Paediatrics First Aid certificate" The HABC Level 3 Award in Paediatrics First Aid is recognised as a qualification that fulfils this need.

Level 3 First Aid at Work (FAW) (Initial) (QCF)

This accredited qualification is ideal fro those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

If the assessment of your First Aid requirements highlights the need for qualified First Aiders, then this course will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.

This First Aid at Work training course is not just an attend course, candidates are required to take part in practical assessements, theorectical work and also home studies to successfully complete the course which will be assessed at the end by an experienced independant assessor.

The recommended course duration is 3 days and topics covered include the roles and responsibilities of the First Aider, assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injuries and anaphylaxis.

Level 3 First Aid at Work (FAW) (Re-Qualification)

This course refreshes the First Aiders skills, it provides information on any recent protocol updates in the delivery of First Aid procedures. It furthers their knowledge through a series of practical scenarios and instructional input. It is a requirement of attendance that the candidate has a current FAW certifcate in order to attend this course.
